I am a highly qualified and truly multi-faceted instructional designer holding unparalleled experience in the education setting. I possess a strong record of course development and curricula-improvement strategies. I have polished written and verbal communication skills allowing me to work with a wide-range of clientele. I believe a key component to business success is the ability to collaborate interdepartmentally, which I have flourished in with each title I’ve held thus far. In addition, I have 10+ years of direct experience in various information technology roles and 10+ years surrounding Instruction.
Why education and technology? If there was ONE thing I knew growing up, it was video games. Well, that AND that I wanted to be a teacher. Working in Education and using various technologies in everything I did just always felt natural. I wanted to know as much as I could about how people learn and why/how to use technology effectively. That passion and drive continues to this day, and has even grown into curiosities in other related areas. How people learn has evolved into a real interest in neuroscience and using technology has evolved into wanting to learn how to design and develop educational apps.
Those who work or have worked with me might describe me as driven and highly motivated. While I strive to have a good work-life balance, oftentimes I have a difficult time ‘putting on the breaks’ when it comes to my professional goals. This is shown, in one way, by being involved in several related communities (like ATD, eLearning Guild, the Adobe Education Exchange and others), and by being awarded two scholarships for professional development. Thanks to the generosity of the scholarship donors, I was able to participate in and complete two online programs! One was to refresh and update my skills in instructional design and project management, and the other was to become certified in Adobe Captivate!
